Dialogue
This dialogue is fictional and based on the article.
Chako: What do you mean that Mbappé apologized?
Log: He made some comments about China that became a problem, and a Chinese company terminated its contract with him.
Chako: Wow, is that really how it turned out?
Log: Yeah. He acknowledged that his comments lacked consideration and said he understands that he hurt a lot of people.
Navi: The background to the controversy lies in the insufficient consideration for China’s political situation and culture.
Chako: I see, so everyone really has to be careful!
Admin’s Note
I believe that Mbappé’s apology provides a valuable opportunity to reflect deeply on the impact of our words. Athletes, in particular, hold positions that influence many people, so they need to be especially mindful of their language. As Navi pointed out in the conversation between Chaco and Log, a lack of consideration for culture and politics can lead to significant repercussions. I hope that in the future, athletes will raise their awareness and speak more cautiously.
