Summary
The Hiroshima Carp announced that they will not be renewing contracts for four players: Kaito Kozono, Masaya Yano, Seita Maekawa, and Shunsuke Tamura.
Notably, Yano and Maekawa have been implicated in drug-related issues and have been referred to prosecutors, which has impacted their status. Although Kozono and Tamura are recognized for their abilities, it is believed that building a trustworthy relationship with them has proven difficult. In the transfer market, not only player performance but also the team’s compliance and fan reactions are considered, making it likely that other teams may hesitate to acquire them.
Dialogue
This dialogue is fictional and based on the article.
Chako: Hey Log, did you hear that Hiroshima isn’t signing Kono? What do you think about that?
Log: Well, especially since Kono was the top batter last season and was selected for the WBC, he definitely has a lot of potential. But I’m worried about the trust issues that have been raised.
Chako: What do you mean by that?
Log: For example, the drug issues with Yano and Maekawa might be affecting things, so the team probably wants to avoid any risks. It’s not just about a player’s skills; the impression they leave on others is also important.
Navi: In the transfer market, teams consider not only a player’s performance but also compliance issues and sponsor reactions, which is why few teams are likely to take the plunge to sign Kono.
Chako: I see, so impressions really do matter!
Admin’s Note
This news really makes us reflect on how crucial a player’s skill and trust are. It’s disappointing to see that even talented players like Kozono can see their value in the transfer market decline due to shaken trust. Considering the future of the players, the team needs to make cautious decisions. As fans, we want an environment where players can perform healthily, and I believe the team shares that responsibility.
